Who and what is MMAPP?

All about MMAPP

Sarah Pearce - MMAPP Owner

As a personally written retrospective of how MMAPP came to be, there are so many different factors that surround MMAPP.

"The two things in life we should never abuse or take for granted are Animals and Music."

Firstly, my life experience. I was born in Palmerston North, New Zealand 1973 and moved to Queensland in 1980 with my Mother. Shortly after arriving in Melbourne from Queensland in 1981, I as a 7 year old child,  witnessed my Mother move into a violent relationship that saw 7 years of abuse surrounded by Authority corruption and the brutality of human nature which ultimately led to my Mothers death when I was 12 Years old.

From this point in my life I was sent to live with my Grandparents, who took place of my Mother and gave me all the things I had missed out on. High end equestrian Coaches, Professional Vocal Training and Professional percussion lessons and photographic modeling, from here I battled eating disorders and exited the Modeling scene after my Agent passed away. An early guide to my future and desire to enter the Music Industry, entailed with my never ending battle for Animal Welfare.

While living with my Grandparents, I made an incredible friend "Craig Norman" who was the rock I saw in the Music Industry, I adored and admired Craig as a brilliant Musician and as a person who always had time, he gave kindness and an unconditional friendship that was higher than this World could offer. We wrote songs together, played on the drums and generally spent a lot of time colaborating and learning. His suicide in the early 1990'S, was horrific and until now, something to overcome, but yet, at a spiritual level, another call for me to complete "unfinished business." Sadly, Craig gave so much as a friend, but yet, hid his own demons so well from everyone.

I had always leaned towards Veterinary science and music, hence, it was one or the other that I would eventually move into. At the end of my High School education I was granted Veterianary Science Studies to 5 different Universities but deferred, never to complete or return to.  I spent many years working in customer service roles and sales rep positions, track work riding and the like. In 1994 I gained employment within the Tramways (Melbourne) and over time, begrudgingly stayed in this role where Public abuse was a daily ritual. In 2004 after 10 years of service was made redundant with 120 of my fellow workmates.

After finishing on the Tramways and the stress of rotating shifts was now over, it was now easy to focus on my passion. Music. I had always wanted to be a live performer in the classic Rock Band style, but with my professionally trained voice being in Soprano, it was clear that I was destined as a performer to be an opera singer, which I never wanted to do, so I chose then to study the "Behind the scenes" of the Music Industry.

With a lifetime of wordly knowledge, being forced to grow up at such a young age, battling statistics of the past mixed with years of viewing the worst that society had to offer, I had two choices, follow a path of nothingness and be what I was shown, or change the future and utilize my negative experiences and turn them into something positive. To help and to nurture.  Beyond all of this, finding out in the mid 1990's that I could not have Children was a call for me to genuinely "Get busy" creating my future.

In June 2005, MMAPP officially became a registered Business. After entering the Music Industry at Business owner status and many years of study before that, it registered strongly to me that the Australian Music Industry is so big, yet for so many years has not truly been nurtured. With an abundance of World quality artists right at our front door, screaming to be heard and taken seriously, it is now that my education and life experiences come into play.

Beyond all, MMAPP realises the closed doors of the Music Industry. As much as MMAPP will remain a Company that boasts an all you could need or want service for Clients and a genuine approach to our underlying needs of Friendship, Entertainment and Communication, as much as MMAPP will remain a service whose doors will remain open to the young musicians who do not possess keys for other doors. MMAPP does maintain it's World quality standard and remains a highly contactable company for all, yet will not judge the young or unknowns as any different. We all need a palce to start,  a humble warm home to base ourselves and positive guidance. This is where MMAPP is different, our doors are never locked to anyone, all we need is your passion and drive to go the distance and your genuine and original qualities as an Entertainer.

Leah Healy - Event Management

I have been working in the industry since 2004. I n that time I have worked in promotions, data basing, publicity, artist liaison, stage managing, graphic design, booking, filming, project management and events.

In 2006 I started running a music night called Busta Noise, in conjunction with Noise TV. The idea of the night was to help promote new and upcoming artists by giving them a chance to perform and gain TV exposure which otherwise they would not have access to. Busta Noise featured Music Vs Physics, Mountains I n The Sky, K-Oscillate, I llzilla, Inflatables, Elf Tranzporter, Wasabi, Aysu Soulz and DJ Manchild just to name a few.

I n 2007 I became the co-founder of kids music label Cheeky Ninja Records. With this label we put together kid’s compilation album ‘Cheeky Ninja Jam’. The album features music from different genres including hip-hop, jazz, Ballard, Turkish, rock and more. Cheeky Ninja Jam is aimed at 2-6 year olds giving them a broader range of musical sounds to influence those early stages of learning. Instead of what is typical known as kids’ music.

By the end of 2007 I completed an Advanced Diploma in Music Business. My main love in the music industry is festivals; I love to be outdoors when I work. Festivals I have worked include Glastonbury , Summadayze, St Jeromes Laneway, Point Nepean, Chill   I sland and currently Le Chic Frog Festival.

Recently I have worked with Oxfam on the Close The Gap campaign. This included getting well known Australian artists to help promote awareness for the Close The Gap. Music is a great way to communicate a message across to the public.

AFRODOG - MMAPP Mascot

Afrodog is the Mascot of MMAPP.

He is commonly known as Tyson, or Mr T. He is a real dog and still alive. He was saved from a Animal Shelter approximately 4 years ago as a 12 month old dog. I wish he could speak. His previous life I can say was not very good. He was severely malnourished and more than scared of Humans. He is a lot better now. With years of patience and a kind hand, he has no more worries of being starved or hurt.
